Privacy Policy

Overview

Great and Small (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a family memory app that helps parents capture voice narrations of their photos. We take your family’s privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What We Collect

• Account information: Your email address and name when you create an account.
• Family information: Family name and children’s first names and optional birth dates that you provide.
• Photos and videos: Media you select from your camera roll to include in memories. These are uploaded to our secure servers.
• Voice recordings: Audio narrations you record within the app. These are uploaded for transcription and then stored with your memories.
• Transcripts: Text generated from your voice recordings, including AI-polished versions.

How We Use Your Data

• Transcription: Voice recordings are sent to Deepgram, a third-party speech-to-text service, to generate written transcripts.
• AI polish: When you choose to polish a transcript, the text is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to improve readability. Only the transcript text is sent — not your audio or photos.
• Storage: Your photos, audio, and text are stored securely on Supabase (backed by AWS infrastructure) and are only accessible to members of your family group.
• Sharing: When you share a memory via link, a unique token is generated. Only people with that specific link can view that memory.

What We Don’t Do

• We do not sell your data to anyone.
• We do not use your photos, audio, or text for advertising.
• We do not train AI models on your content. Your data is processed only to provide the features you use.
• We do not share your data with third parties except as described above (Deepgram for transcription, Anthropic for AI polish).

Third-Party Services

• Supabase: Database, authentication, and file storage.
• Deepgram: Speech-to-text transcription of voice recordings.
• Anthropic (Claude): AI text processing for transcript polishing, title generation, and chapter summaries.
• Vercel: Hosting for the web viewer at greatsmall.app.

Data Retention

Your memories are stored as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account, all associated data (photos, audio, transcripts, family information) will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Children’s Privacy

Great and Small is designed for use by parents. Children do not create accounts or interact with the app directly. Children’s first names and optional birth dates are stored only as tags to help organize memories. We do not collect data directly from children.

Your Rights

You can:

• Delete individual memories at any time from within the app.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Request a copy of your data by contacting us at hello@greatsmall.app.
